Dr. Joon Mang
. Dr. Mang is a graduate of prestigious New York University College of Dentistry with honors in esthetics. He has a special passion for cosmetic dentistry. He was trained by Dr. Calamia, co-founder of modern etched bonded porcelain veneer. Dr. Mang provides: - Complete smile makeover with porcelain veneers - Implants - BioclearTM treatment to close diastema and black triangles - Orthodontics: o Braces o InvisalignTM, the invisible braces to help with patients who want their teeth straightened without compromising the esthetics. - Family general dentistry He received many awards and scholarships throughout his dental education. To name a few: Academy of General Dentistry Senior Student Award Dr. Edward G. Kaufman Award – awarded to the top student of the class Elsa Pleuger-Rahmsdorf Scholarship Omicron Kappy Upsilon Honor Dental Society Certification Dr. Mang provided dental care as a volunteer dentist in under-served populations in Mongolia, Mexico and Nicaragua. He travels world-wide to offer dental care to those who are in need. He strives to create a comfortable experience for all his patients and aspires to build a trusting relationship with family members of all ages. He continually takes advanced dental courses to offer the most thoroughly researched and up-to-date dental techniques and procedures for his patients. Dr. Mang is happily married to Juha for 8 years and a father of twin girls, Arlene and Jaelyn. He enjoys playing musical instruments including drums, guitar and piano with his wife Juha who plays violin and piano.
Dr. Manning Chiang
Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Dr. Chiang attended high school at Lisgar Collegiate Institute and the University of Western Ontario School Of Dentistry. He graduated in 1997 from the Schulich School of Dentistry from the University of Western Ontario. As a graduate he accepted awards which included the Pierre Fichaud academy of dentistry award and community dentistry award. As a dentist in practice for over 13 years he prides himself in providing all patients excellence in dentistry and using the latest in dentistry techniques to provide you with a beautiful and healthy smile. Due to his gentle and calming demeanour with his positive outlook on life, he loves treating children and adults alike. He provides orthodontic straightening of teeth via traditional braces and Invisalign, as well as providing good family dentistry and enjoys restoring teeth via fillings, implants and crowns and bridges. A self-professed individual to detail, he loves the art of dentistry. Dr. Chiang entered into private practice in Kitchener in 1997 and obtained a wealth of knowledge and experience before coming to provide his dental care for the patients and communities of the Community Dental Groups. He highly enjoys working in this dental group practice environment with Dr. Kwek, Dr. McCara and Dr. Van Beek as he can then share ideas, philosophies and patients who need family dental care. Additionally, Dr. Chiang believes strongly in education to prevent oral health problems before they occur, and he makes sure to keep patients fully informed about their dental health. He is a member of the Ontario Dental Association, Royal College of Dental Surgeons, and Waterloo Wellington Dental Society. Upon graduation in 1997, Dr. Chiang moved to Kitchener, Waterloo. He has since raised a family with his wife of 13 years, Alexandra and their two children, Sydney and Justin. Dr. Chiang’s personal hobbies and interests include basketball, running, skiing, mountain biking, gardening and volunteering at Creekside Church. He welcomes new and existing members of the communities and surrounding areas to come visit the Community Dental Group practices and experience service and family care with a big smile
Dr. Miyen Kwek
Dr. Kwek graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto in 1997. He practised all aspects of dentistry in Toronto and Burlington until 1999 when he moved to Kitchener to further his career. In 2002, he finally found his dental home in the wonderful community of New Hamburg, which he later named as the ‘New Hamburg Dental Group’. In 2007 and 2010, he and Dr. Manning Chiang brought their quality approach to dental care to the welcoming communities of Wellesley, Drayton and now Breslau. Dr. Kwek prides himself with ensuring that he provides the best quality dental care for his patients both inside and outside of the office. He has planted his dental roots in the smaller communities of New Hamburg, Wellesley, Drayton and Breslau as he believes in a community and patient centered approach to dental treatment. His easy going personality and professional yet humourous chairside manner allows his patients to feel at ease under his care. He is known to his patients as the dentist who makes follow-up calls to ensure their well being is his priority. He also prides himself in giving back to the community on many levels. He continues to actively support local charities, events, team sports, organizations, schools, and mission projects abroad. Since 1997, Dr. Kwek’s philosophy of practice has been to provide the best long term treatment in order to prevent disease, wear and tear, and to prevent fracture and unnecessary tooth loss. Although he is committed to providing clinical excellence in every aspect of dentistry to his patients, he has a true passion for oral surgery, replacing teeth with dental implants, and creating esthetic, affordable, immediate and long lasting smile makeovers. Dr. Kwek stays current by continually taking advanced level courses in implant therapy and bone and tissue regeneration. He also teaches general surgery courses to other dentists who are interested in gaining more experience. His attention to detail and quality of care is why Dr. Kwek’s patients continue to refer their families and friends from all over the region. When he is not at the office, Dr. Kwek is enjoying family life with his sons, Jaden and Tai. Dr. Kwek also enjoys going to the gym, participating in a wide variety of sports, travelling and riding his motorcycle.
Jessica, Office Manager
I have been working in the dental field for nine years. I have been working with the Community Dental Groups since graduating in 2007. In 2010, I was privileged to take on the role of Office Manager. I thoroughly enjoy being able to build relationships with patients and assist them with their dental needs. In enjoy spending my spare time with my husband, daughter and dog Coco.
Angela, Office Administrator
Angela graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Cambrian College in 2012. She joined the Community Dental Groups in June of 2013 as the Office Administrator for the Drayton Office. She also still enjoys assisting when needed. She loves getting to know each patient on a personal level to build trust and to ensure a positive dental experience. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing baseball and spending time with her family.
Ashley, Certified Dental Assistant Level II
Ashley graduated from the Dental Assisting Program at Georgian College in July 2013. Shortly thereafter, she began working with the Drayton Dental Group in September 2013. Ashley's favourite part about being a dental assistant is meeting new people and creating a warm comforting environment for our patients. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys crafting, painting and spending time with her friends, family and pets.
Andrea, Registered Dental Hygienist
Andrea is a Registered Dental Hygienist through the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario. She graduated in 2007 from the Dental Hygiene Program at Canadore College. She began working as a temporary Dental Hygienist with the Community Dental Groups in 2010. Andrea became authorized for Self-Initiation within her profession in 2012. She is an active member with the Ontario Dental Hygienists Association and the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association. Andrea is the Vice-President of the Waterloo-Wellington Dental Hygiene Society and as part of the executive committee helps in organizing continuing education courses for local dental hygienists. Andrea enjoys providing care for all age groups but especially, geriatrics and actively working with each individual client to maintain exemplary care through the years. Andrea is married and adores spending quality time with her 2 Dobermans and her horses.
